Meet Simone

A Houston injury lawyer who cares, and who fights.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the daughter of public servants, Simone R. Bray grew up with a deep-rooted commitment to helping people in need.

After being admitted to the bar, Simone sharpened her skills at respected personal injury firms in Houston. She then served at the Harris County Public Defender's Office, where she advocated for clients who couldn't afford a lawyer and gained invaluable trial experience in front of Houston juries. She returned to personal injury to do what she does best: fight for injured Texans.

Today Simone is a trial attorney with The Law Offices of Omar Khawaja. She approaches every case with meticulous care, because she understands that behind every case is a person whose life has been upended. Her job is to make sure that person is heard, protected, and fully compensated.

Outside the courtroom, Simone teaches the next generation of lawyers as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center, spends time with her family, and explores new cultures through travel.

Cases I Handle

Houston Personal Injury Cases

Serious injuries need a lawyer who knows how to investigate fast, push back against insurance companies, and try the case if they won't be fair.

18-Wheeler & Truck Accidents

Houston's highways and ports put big rigs everywhere. Trucking companies move fast to protect themselves. We move faster to preserve logbooks, black-box data, and driver records.

Car Accidents

From I-610 and I-45 to Beltway 8, wrecks can cause life-changing injuries. Get help with medical bills, lost wages, and the insurance company's lowball offers.

Wrongful Death

Losing someone because of another's negligence is devastating. Simone helps Texas families hold the responsible people accountable while they focus on healing.

Drunk Driver (DWI) Crashes

Victims of drunk drivers may have claims against the driver and, in some cases, the bar or restaurant that over-served them under the Texas Dram Shop Act.

Slip & Fall Injuries

Stores, apartment complexes, and businesses must keep their property reasonably safe. Wet floors, broken stairs, and poor lighting can lead to serious premises liability claims.

Assault & Negligent Security

When an attack happens at an apartment, hotel, parking lot, or club with inadequate security, the property owner may be responsible for the harm.

Airport & Airline Injuries

Injuries at Bush Intercontinental (IAH), Hobby, or on a flight, from falls and escalator incidents to baggage and wheelchair-assistance failures, follow special rules and deadlines.

Uber & Lyft Accidents

Rideshare crashes involve layers of insurance coverage. Whether you were a passenger, driver, or another motorist, the right policy has to be found and pursued.

Hurt in a way that's not listed here? Reach out anyway. If Simone can't help, she'll point you in the right direction.

My Approach

Not just a litigator. A trial lawyer.

Many lawyers file paperwork and hope for a settlement. Simone prepares every case to win in front of a jury. Insurance companies notice the difference.

The heart

Warm, honest, and always reachable

You'll be treated like a person, not a file number. Simone takes time to understand your injuries, your family, and what you're worried about, and she keeps you informed every step of the way.

The fight

Tough, prepared, and trial-ready

Courtroom experience as a public defender and as a personal injury trial lawyer means she knows how to tell your story to a jury, and how to stand up to the defense lawyers who try to minimize it.

  1. Listen

We start with your story: what happened, how you're hurting, and what you need.

  2. Investigate

Evidence gets preserved early: reports, video, witnesses, records, and experts.

  3. Build for trial

Your case is prepared as if it's going before a jury from day one.

  4. Fight for full value

Negotiate from strength, and try the case if the other side won't be fair.

Questions

Texas Personal Injury FAQ

How much does it cost to hire you?

Your consultation is free. Personal injury cases are handled on a contingency fee, which means you pay no attorney's fee unless we win. If we recover money for you, the fee is a percentage of that recovery, and everything is explained in a written agreement before you decide to hire us.

How long do I have to file a personal injury lawsuit in Texas?

In most Texas personal injury and wrongful death cases, the deadline to file a lawsuit is two years. Some claims, especially those against cities, counties, or other government entities, require written notice much sooner, sometimes within months. Don't wait: evidence disappears and deadlines are strict.

What if I was partly at fault for the accident?

Texas follows a "proportionate responsibility" rule. You can generally still recover if you were not more than 50% responsible, but your recovery is reduced by your share of fault. Insurance companies often try to shift blame onto injured people, which is one more reason to have a lawyer in your corner.

Why does it matter that my lawyer is a trial lawyer?

Most cases settle. But insurance companies keep track of which lawyers are ready and willing to try a case in front of a jury, and which ones aren't. Preparing every case for trial puts you in a stronger position, whether your case settles or not.

What should I do after a crash in Houston?

Get medical care, even if you feel okay at first. Call the police so there's a crash report, take photos of the scene and your injuries, and get witness names and numbers. Avoid giving a recorded statement to the other driver's insurance company before you've talked with a lawyer.

Why are 18-wheeler cases different from car accidents?

Trucking cases involve federal safety regulations, multiple companies that may share responsibility (the driver, the carrier, the shipper, the maintenance company), and critical evidence like electronic logging and black-box data that can be lost if it isn't preserved quickly.
